Adaptations
The blotched blue tongued lizard uses different adaptations to survive. He is able to camouflage in his surroundings with the colour of his skin to survive against predators. The lizard also does various things to its body to make it look larger and scarier then what it really is, to scare predators off and survive.
Structural Adaptations
- They grow up to 55-60 cm long
- They are commonly silver grey and have dark brown/black bands across the body and tail
- They have a large body and head, and small arms and legs

Physiological Adaptations
- The blue tongue expands its ribcage and turns on its side to look larger then it really is
Behavioural Adaptations
- When the lizard is threatened they turn towards the the threat that is upon them and open their mouth wide to stick out their big blue tongue
- With the large size of the lizards head and the display of the tongue, predators will be frightened off
- When scaring a predator the lizard, other than using their head and tongue, they will hiss and flatten their body, which altogether makes them look much bigger than they are
- If the lizard is picked up, they will start to bite what ever it is
- The blue-tongue lives aloe for majority of the year, although between September and November males will pursue a female and start mating
- Mating is rough and sometimes females will end up with scratches and scrape marks from the males teeth
